Lubeznik Center for the Arts Honors Two Michigan City Art Supporters at 2015 ArtBash

Debbie-HyndmanLubeznik Center for the Arts will present the LCA Arts Leadership Award to two individuals at its annual ArtBash fundraiser on July 11, 2015. These two honorees were selected for their exceptional commitment and dedication to the arts.

Debbie Hyndman has long been a generous supporter of the LCA. Her longest commitment has been on LCA's Lakefront Art Festival Committee for which, her family's company, Bulk Transport, she sponsors the Artist Hospitality Tent. This particular emphasis demonstrates her caring and compassionate nature and how much she values artists as creators and professionals. Her late husband, Jerry, was the original architect of the facility that is now the LCA. He was also on the design team that transformed the former office space into the current LCA Center where the Hyndman Gallery was named in acknowledgement of their long-standing commitment to the arts.

Chris Grohs is an integral part of both the civic and cultural life of Michigan City. A talented wood craftsman with projects ranging from large-scale custom residential installations to sculptural works, Chris opened Walnut Ink Gallery on Franklin Street in 2010. In so doing, he became a pioneer in what has now become a thriving arts community. He has become a leader and key resource in this community including his participation in the Michigan City Main Street Association where he serves as board president.
