Come Downtown Whiting “For the Love of Art”

For-the-Love-of-ArtThe 119th Street Artists presents "For the Love of Art" show on Saturday, August 25th from 10a.m. until 5p.m. This is the seventh annual artistic event and is the perfect place to enjoy viewing and buying one of a kind masterpieces.

Chairman of the event, Kathy Winsberg of Full Circle Art said that there will be pottery, oil and acrylic paintings, watercolorists and well as original pieces by jewelry makers. A pastel portrait artist will be on hand too! Think what a great gift that would be for grandma who already has everything else to have a pastel done of her favorite grandchild!

This year there will be a booth for free mural painting at which both adults and children can try their hand as well as the opportunity to "chalk one up" for sidewalk art making as well.

This year the art show has moved to a new location! It will be held on Oliver Street from 119th to the alley and then continue on the lawn of the school going down Oliver.

"It's an exciting concept," Kathy said. "It's reminiscent of when the Pierogi Fest art show was on Liver street. We're looking forward to it as we have been welcomed with open arms by the School City. It's a place for us to grow, be back in the lovely shade and it's quite a scenic location."

In addition to For the Love of Art there will be a number of food vendors. You may especially want to try red velvet funnel cake which is new this year.

There will be music throughout the day starting with the band Indiana from 10:30a.m. until 1:00p.m. followed by musical artists Keenan Baxter from 2p.m. until 4p.m.

If you are an artist or know of one who would like to have the opportunity to meet the public and display their wares, please call Kathy at 219-659-0901 for more information. One day booths 12" x 12" are only $50.
