Fabulous Footwear Featured at “First Friday” After-Hours Event

Eclipse-by-Tommy-FitzsimmonsKick off your summer, and your shoes, at Lubeznik Center for Arts' free "First Fridays @ 5" after-hours open house on June 3rd.

Footwear connoisseurs are encouraged to enter Lubeznik Center's first annual Flip Flop contest. Break out the Bedazzler, neon paints, funky beads, and your keen sense of style -- the contest will offer several creative categories including: Most Unusual, Best Use of Bling, Beachiest, Flip Fop Formal Wear, and for the kids, a "Tot Flops" division. Judging will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. with prizes awarded to the most coveted flip flops. The contest is right around the corner -- get your creative juices and glue guns flowing.

Continuing the sunshine theme, New Buffalo boutique owner, Janet Clark, will provide a sizzling style preview for the hot season. Models will circulate through the Center from 6-7 p.m. sporting summer chic fashions from her shop, Michigan Thyme.

Visitors to the Gallery Shop will find a treasure trove of new and summer-themed items including, A history of Michigan City’s Washington Park, whose author Jonita Davis, will be on hand for book signing.

An artist reception in Lubeznik Center's Brincka/Cross and Robert Saxton Galleries offer an opportunity to meet "Material Girl" Tommy Fitzsimmons, whose colorful art quilts are part of an exhibition line up that includes original art nouveau posters, vintage Vogue magazine covers and heavy metal concert photos.

Mix and mingle while enjoying music, entertainment and artwork in 5 galleries. Refreshments will be available. Admission is free.
