An Art Open House, With All the Trimmings

lubeznik-center-for-the-artsMusic and foods of the Windy City will complement Lubeznik Center for the Arts’ 100 Views of Chicago exhibition at their First Fridays @ 5 event on March 4. Visitors will get a rare opportunity to enjoy a Chicago Style hot dog, along with a sampling of quintessentially Chicago treats, as they browse Bronislaw Bak’s evocative block prints.

The original folio of 100 black-and-white woodcuts was published by Bronislaw and Hedi Bak's Studio Press in 1967. The culmination of a full year's work, this collection of landmarks, people and street scenes evokes a sense of Chicago's history, difficult to match in any other media. The exhibition marks the first time this collection has been shown in public since its debut.

Blues music and prints by Chicago icon, and founder of the DuSable Museum of African American History, Margaret Burroughs, will also be featured. Admission is FREE.

The Lubeznik Center is located at 101 W. 2nd St., at the lakefront in Michigan City, IN. Gallery Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:00am to 5:00pm, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Galleries are closed on Mondays. For more information please visit www.lubeznikcenter.org or call 219-874-4900. All times are based on Chicago time.
