Portage Township Food Pantry is “Raising a Roof”

Portage-Township-Food-PantryThe Portage Township Food Pantry is "Raising a Roof” and we need your help! We're in the process of trying to secure $500,000 in grant funding. Part of this process includes obtaining 525,000 in philanthropic community donations; which is a portion of the matching funds required for the project. Garnering strong community support is a critical factor in obtaining the grant.

Portage Township Food Pantry has proudly served our community for over 30 years. During that time, the pantry location has periodically had to move. This new building will he a much-needed, permanent home specifically designed as and for a food pantry. It will be attached to other government offices that assist those in mod, streamlining services. Plans are being finalized, the site is chosen, and consolation is expected to begin this fall.

We owe all our past success to the generosity of our community and our hardworking volunteers. Everything earned is for the benefit of those we serve. Approximately 600 Pottage Township residents are helped each month and the need continues to grow.

The next two months are vital to the project. Again, we must meet our fundraising goal to qualify fora matching want. We are asking businesses to help the pantry in two ways. First consider a corporate donation check by our June 30. 2018 deadline. Second, consider holding a collection at your workplace to help us achieve our goal. We will be asking individuals, churches, clubs and organizations for help as well. The funds are to be deposited with the P01121 County Community Foundation with the memo line for the Portage Township Fond Pantry.

I know this is a major request: however, the Portage Township Food Pantry needs your support now more than ever. We can achieve our goal with your help! We will make ourselves available to meet with you to answer any questions you might have. Thank you for your consideration in this important matter.
