Hannah’s Hope Celebrates Its Volunteers

The Porter County Community Foundation room was buzzing with ideas and excitement on Tuesday evening as Hannah's Hope hosted its annual volunteer appreciation dinner. Everyone in attendance was elated to celebrate the non-profit's success in 2016 and the plans for 2017.

Board President Mike Martinez and others shared what a great year Hannah's Hope had in 2016. The charity, which aims to provide support for families of children with special needs, hosted three successful fundraisers and raised more than $56,000 to benefit the children of Northwest Indiana.

The group was sharing ideas and brainstorming ways to do even more in 2017. "This year is going to be a big year for Hannah's Hope as our dream of an all-inclusive playground is going to become a reality," said Mary Martinez. The playground, equipment scholarship program, and family picnic are all ways that Hannah's Hope aims to make a difference in Northwest Indiana.

Volunteers from all over Northwest Indiana are integral to the success of Hannah's Hope. Each event grows because of the ideas and hard work of the volunteers. "Events are often so busy, and we don't always have time to properly thank our volunteers. This evening is about thanking them, and showing them how their time and talents make a big difference in the community," said Martinez.

If you are looking to make a difference in the lives of local families, Hannah’s Hope is always looking for volunteers. The needs of the organization are varied, and there are ways for everyone to be involved! Check out www.hannahshope.org or the Hannah’s Hope facebook page for more details.
