Franciscan Health Crown Point: Stuffed Animals Arrive Just in Time for Holidays

Franciscan-Health-Crown-Point-Stuffed-Animals-Arrive-Just-in-Time-for-HolidaysThe congregation of Holy Name Catholic Church in Cedar Lake donated dozens of new, stuffed animals to the Franciscan Health Crown Point Pediatrics Unit, just in time to bring cheer to young patients during the holiday season. The toy drive is part of the parish’s annual Baby Bottle Ministry that is observed in October, which is Respect Life Month.

During that time, parishioners are asked to fill baby bottles with cash or checks to donate to community causes. In this instance, they were asked to donate the toys. The parish regularly donates children’s items to the hospital. Shown, from left, with just a few of the toys, are Sandy Lewis, co-chairwoman of the collection effort; Sarah Tomaszewski, RN and unit clinical documentation specialist; Chrissy Shultz, RN; Melissa Meadows, RN; Heather Shimkus, RN and unit nurse manager; and Kate Carr, drive co-chairwoman.
