Walk for Awareness Attracts All Ages

The United Way of Porter County Power of Youth Council’s Walk for Awareness of Teen Substance Abuse held on Monday, June 7, 2010 raised more than $1000.00. power-of-youth-walking

People of all ages walked to support the United Way of Porter County’s Power of Youth Council in the Walk for Awareness. Thanks to David Lain, Porter County Sheriff, Portage Police Department and numerous parents and teens, the Council was able to raise more than $1000.00 , which will be used for teen substance abuse prevention activities and early treatment.

Thanks to Porter-Starke, Inc., Bella Photography, Livemercial, Horizon Bank, Town & Country, Masterson Insurance, Lakeshore Public Television, Northwest Indiana Federation of Labor (NIFL) and Valparaiso Noon Kiwanis for making the Walk a success and supporting the United Way of Porter County’s Power of Youth Council.

The Power of Youth will be awarding grants to the recipients of this year’s fund-raising efforts at the Porter County Fair, July 28, 2010, at 6:45pm. Tickets are available at the gate or by going to http://www.portercofair.org/ .
