Cars are like babies--they require constant care, they need to be checked in on regularly, and you wouldn’t place them in the hands of a stranger. That’s about where the similarities end (unless you are an obsessive car parent who kisses your car goodnight,) but nevertheless, getting to know the person who maintains your car is a healthy practice! Reeder’s Auto Service has an awesome team of professionals, and Jeff Reeder knows everything there is to know about cars. Q: Where are you from?
A: Portage, IN

Q: Family?
A: My wife, Sherry, and three sons: Jacob – 31, Jeremy – 29 and Joshua --21. I also have a daughter, Stephanie – 23. I also have three granddaughters and one grandson on the way!

Q: How long have you worked at Reeder’s?
A: Since the beginning.

Q: How long have you been working on cars?
A: I started working for my father, Jim Reeder at Jim’s Amoco of Portage in 1971

Q: What’s your favorite or your dream car?
A: A 4×4 Jeep Rubicon.

Q: Do you have any certifications?
A: Brakes, Suspension and Wheel Alignment, Heating and Air Conditioning, Electronics, and Engine Performance Specialist.

Q: If you had to live with only three tools in your toolbox, what would they be and why?
A: The scan tool – it sees what the computer sees and says; and the lab scope – it shows me real time failures that other tools can’t see.

Q: Do you specialize in any type of automobile work?
A: Electronics and Computerized Engine Performance.

Q: Do you have any hobbies? If so, what are they?
A: Whitewater kayaking, downhill and cross country skiing, biking, fishing, and camping

Q: What’s your favorite band?
A: Creedence Clearwater Revival

Q: Cats or dogs?
A: Dogs. I have a Chocolate Lab, Eagle

Q: What’s your favorite tv show(s)?
A: Anything on The History Channel

Q: If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not, living or dead, real or fictional, with whom would it be?
A: One of the Twelve, Peter

Q: How would you explain how a car works in three sentences to an 8-year-old?
A: The engine – the right amount of air and fuel is put into the chamber and then ignited to power the car.
