The funds will be used for the Natural Playground project at Sunset Hill Farm County Park, which began construction this summer.

The Children’s Garden and Natural Playground will connect families to nature through open-ended and kid led play experiences that engage all the senses. The Natural Playground will welcome children and families to explore, touch, climb, play, and learn through “loose parts” play, building with natural materials, and making connections with their local natural environment.

Enbridge has supported various other endeavors of the Porter County Parks & Recreation Department, including contributions utilized for the Pond & Prairie restoration completed this year. This project involved the removal of exotic and invasive species which were then replaced with plantings natural to Northwest Indiana.

The project will be conducted in various phases as funding becomes available, with the first phase anticipated to open this spring.
