Porter County Parks Seeks Food Vendor Qualifications

rot2The Porter County Board of Parks and Recreation is currently seeking a qualified food service vendor to provide food vending services during specifically identified functions and events at Sunset Hill Farm Park. The first event is the Valparaiso High School Cross Country meet scheduled for August 26, 2014. The Porter County Board of Parks and Recreation will receive submittals from qualified food vendors and then negotiate a contract and complete a comprehensive scope of services. Qualified vendors are invited to submit their qualifications to the Porter County Board of Parks and Recreation by August 15, 2014, for consideration.

Sunset Hill Farm Park is a 238-acre parcel gifted to the Porter County Board of Parks and Recreation by Colonel Robert Heffron Murray. The park is located at the intersection of Meridian Road and US Highway 6 in Liberty Township, Porter County, Indiana. The property is a multi-use facility hosting numerous activities, festivals and events. Although food concessions are available to patrons at some of the festivals and events, there is currently no contracted food service vendor providing food service at many of the functions and activities. The Porter County Board of Parks and Recreation is attempting to identify a food service vendor to provide food services at specifically identified functions and events at Sunset Hill Farm Park.

“We are trying to find new ways to serve our park users and make coming to Sunset Hill Farm a more enjoyable experience,” said Walter Lenckos, County Park Superintendent. Once a vendor is chosen and the Department identifies ways to provide onsite vending services the hope is to create a more permanent opportunity at the facility for refreshments and food.

Completed qualifications can be submitted no later than 4:00 pm on August 15th, 2014 in writing to the following address:

Superintendent, Porter County Department of Parks and Recreation
Walter Lenckos
155 Indiana Avenue, Suite 304
