2014 Farm Demonstration Day

rot3NIHPA (Northern Indiana Historical Power Association) will be hosting a Farm Demonstration Day on Saturday May 10th at 9 a.m. at Sunset Hill Farm County Park. The group will plow and disk the remaining fields to prepare them for the planting of corn. In addition, they will be plowing and disking north of Sawmill to prepare for their annual corn maze.

This event is open to the public and is meant to serve as an educational demonstration for all who would like to attend and observe to learn more about local farming techniques and equipment The techniques that NIHPA member will be utilizing, as well as some of the equipment, are over 50 years old.

The Northern Indiana Historical Power Association promotes the preservation, restoration and demonstrates the use of antique farm equipment. The club’s main focus is on tractors, steam engines, gas powered stationary engines, along with antique plowing, planting, and harvesting equipment. As these pieces of equipment that once began their lives as a way of making a living, N.I.H.P.A. has begun using them as an educational avenue for younger generations to come as a preservation of power.
