Porter County Animal Shelter Declares July 2015 as Furry Friends Independence Month

Porter-County-Animal-Shelter-LogoThe Porter County Animal Shelter recognizes that shelter animals have the inalienable rights of a happy life, liberty from the shelter, and the pursuit of a forever home, and has declared the entire month of July as Furry Friends Independence Month. In special recognition of Independence Month, the Shelter has reduced the adoption fees on all cats and dogs by 50%. The adoption fee for cats will be $25, and $50 for dogs, through Friday, July 31st.

“The summer months bring more animals into the shelter than any other time of the year,” stated interim Shelter Director Toni Bianchi. “We are hoping that the public agrees that our animals are entitled to loving and caring homes, and will take advantage of the reduced fees by adopting.”

There is a very wide variety of adoptable cats and dogs available. Each adopting family is provided with a spay/neuter certificate, if applicable, that is honored by most local veterinarians. All potential adopters must complete an adoption application which is subject to approval by Shelter staff. Most (but not all) of the adoptable animals can be seen at www.petfinder.com. Facebook users can view the adoptable cats and kittens on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/portercountyanimalshelter
