Christmas Parade Lights Up Downtown Chesterton

The Twilight Christmas Parade took place just after sunset so the more than 40 floats, strung with Christmas lights, could light up the streets of downtown Chesterton. The variety of floats included everything from muscle cars to fire trunks and police cars to horse drawn buggies and old fashioned Tractors.

Kevin Kelly, owner of a 1960 Buick Lesabre dressed in flashing Christmas light, is ecstatic to be a part of the parade; “This is Christmas! The Christmas season starts today! And I love this parade so much because it’s so different from any other parade because it happens at night, being able to see all the flashing lights is the best part.”

As the parade’s finale, Santa road past on a fire ambulance, draped in garland and lights, wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas. In the end, the parade’s cheerful demeanor was a perfect way to ring in the winter season and leave its audience with high spirits and holiday cheer.
