Myers Elementary
Each school year presents students with more privileges and responsibilities than the previous year. At Myers Elementary, 5th graders get the chance to do something that is both a privilege and a responsibility; raising and lowering our nation’s flag at the beginning and end of each school day.

Myers’ 5th grade students recently received a hands-on civics lesson from 5th grade teacher, James Asbury, about the American Flag’s history, symbolism, and proper handling. Throughout the lesson students were engaged and they excitedly volunteered to help Mr. Asbury demonstrate handling of the flag.

Student’s in Mrs. Roberson’s 4th grade class did text feature surgery. This lesson will help them become text feature experts, by making them identify the different parts of a reading passage, and why they are important. They worked in teams, and even dressed for the occasion!
