Myers Elementary
4th graders at Myers Elementary School in Portage donned their togas and had a “Greek Mythology Day” to celebrate the end of their myth and fable unit. Greek mythology is important for students to be familiar with because it is something that is often alluded to in literature and media. 4th graders completed a project where they created their own myth, and then celebrated at school with a fun-filled “ Hero’s Quest”. On their quest, students had to take a virtual tour through the Parthenon, solve math riddles to unlock a golden treasure chest, and create mythical beasts from “found” materials. As a conclusion to a successful day, students dined on “ambrosia” on “Mount Olympus”.

Saylor Elementary
Mrs. Tharp's 3rd grade class did a Math Escape Room for St. Patricks Day. Students had 60 minutes to solve several equations and beat the Leprechaun to the pot of gold. Equations for this escape room included time, measurement and volume. Clues were hidden in different parts of the classroom. The activity was fun, engaging and reinforced their math skills.
