Portage Township Schools hosted 13 schools from across Porter County in their high school’s West Gymnasium on Feb. 22 for the annual competition. The fourth- and fifth-grade students worked together in teams of up to three to solve a variety of math problems.

Math Bowl teams from Central Elementary School and Myers Elementary School won first place in each of their classes. Other first-place ribbons went to Westchester Intermediate School in the blue class, Discovery Charter School in the green class, and Union Center Elementary in the red class.

Teams from Jones Elementary, John Simatovich Elementary, Kyle Elementary, Morgan Township Elementary, Saylor Elementary and Washington Township Elementary also participated in the competition.

The Math Bowl was sponsored by the Indiana Association of School Principals.
