Myers Elementary Rethinking the Book Report
Students in Mr. Phil Dietrich's 5th grade Reading classes were assigned a G.R.A.S.P.S. project in place of your typical book report. G.R.A.S.P.S stands for "Goal, role, audience, situation, product, and standards." This project gave students an opportunity to take ownership of their learning. They were given an almost unlimited freedom to retell a story in their own way. Projects ranged from lego figures, tri-fold posters, and even puppet shows. Students were able to use their talents and abilities to create a project that they could proudly call their own.
