Saylor Elementary Extreme Energy
Saylor students were able to experience Extreme Energy last Friday. Extreme Energy is a science based assembly program where students were able to see, feel and create energy. Our guests gave examples of heat, wind and electrical energy. In addition, they used an infrared camera to show that we are made of energy too! Students really enjoyed the interactive assembly!

PHS French Class
French 3 and 4 students are voice recording skits that they wrote about meeting up with friends at an amusement park. They have to talk about what they just did and make plans to do something together. Students wrote original skits with their partners and then used the app "Voice Record Pro" to record themselves and submit the assignment to schoology. This app allows students to record their oral work in the target language, while freeing up class time, because the teacher doesn't have to use a day or more of time to listen to students during class. Their recordings can be graded after school, and because the students submit through schoology, they can get immediate written feedback from the teacher. Using this kind of technology saves class time and engages students in using appropriate and specific technology to accomplish an important task. Multiple academic state standards are included in this type of activity, but most important is that students get to display their abilities and accomplishments, and they also get personalized, written feedback in return.
