Portage Tri Kappa's President, Barbara Niemcewicz, was there to present the scholarship monies of $1,000 each to the two winners: Mikinna Garzella, whose career expectation is to become a pharmacist, and Samantha Haywood, whose goal is to become a radiation therapist. Both young ladies are residents of Portage.

According to President Barbara Niemcewicz, "On this 50th Anniversary of Portage Tri Kappa, we are so pleased to continue our mission of supporting higher education by awarding scholarships to Portage students who demonstrate a commitment to both educational pursuits and community service. Criteria used in recipient selection include academic achievement, strong goals, extracurricular activities, volunteer service, and financial need. We congratulate these deserving young women and wish them all the best in achieving their life goals."
