Horizon Bank is pleased to announce that the 2017 Horizon Bank Slicer Branch Scholarship has been awarded to Mason Kosior. A check in the amount of $1,000 was presented at the Senior Academic Awards Program held at the LaPorte High School Auditorium on April 27th.
Mason is involved in several organizations, volunteers his time to a significant number of community service activities, is involved in numerous school activities, is part of the PSI (Postponing Sexual Involvement) and was nominated Outstanding Student four years in a row. His athletic involvement includes the LPHS Student Athletic Council as well as being active playing basketball and track and field. Kosior also works part time at SevenOk’s and maintains a 4.0 GPA.
He wrote a thoughtful five-hundred-word essay on the topic “Community Service Matters Because…” He eloquently expressed the importance of community service and how giving back helps communities grow stronger and improve the lives of others.
Mason’s career goal is to become a designer in aerospace. He plans to attend Purdue University in the spring and will major in Engineering.
