Portage High School’s Business Professional of America has Success in Indianapolis in 2017

Sunday, March 12, 2017, seventeen students traveled down to Indianapolis to compete in the next stage of competition. These same students qualified to go to state back in December when Portage High School hosted Region competition.

BPA is the number co-curricular activity in the world and kids compete in over a 100 different business related topics. Chris Shafer placed 2nd in SQL Database applications along with placing 2nd in Java Programming. Cruz Rosales placed 6th in C++ programming. Sanja Kirova placed 7th in C++ programming and 11th in Desktop publishing. Nate Partin placed 11th in Advanced Word Processing along with formally being named Region 1 President for the next school year.

PHS-BPA-2017_02There are over 100 different schools throughout the state that competes at state competition. The next stop for senior’s Chris Shafer and Cruz Rosales is national competition which will be held in Orlando, Florida in May. Ms. Melendez business teacher and BPA sponsor, would like to thank the teachers, administrators and family members that supported the kids throughout the school year and looks forward to these two bring the gold home in May.
