Portage Elementary Students Circle the State with Song in 2017

Portage-Township-Schools-Circle-the-State-with-Song-2017For 28 years, Circle the State with Song has been an integral part of Indiana’s choral landscape. This program is a statewide choral festival for elementary and junior high/middle school choirs. Circle the State provide students with an exciting and quality choral performance with other students from their area, allow music teachers an opportunity to observe and learn from the clinician working with the students, plus to share and discuss vocal pedagogy with other teachers, and provide students the challenge and opportunity to sing quality children’s choral repertoire.

The students from all 8 elementary schools in Portage have been rehearsing with their music teachers on Saturday mornings, as well as practicing at home. They performed at the Circle the State with Song Festival on Saturday, February 25th, in Hebron, Indiana. Almost 600 students were in attendance, 90 of those students being from the Portage Elementary Schools.

On Thursday, March 9th, the students from Portage will put on a local concert in the PHS West auditorium at 6:00pm. This is a free concert for anyone that would like to attend.
