Portage High School Junior Named Region 1 President for the 2017-2018 School Year

Saturday, February 4, 2017 Portage High School junior, Nate Partin along with his parents and BPA advisor traveled to J. Everett Light Career Center in Indianapolis, Indiana to be officially declared Region 1 President for the 2017-2018 school year. Business Professionals of America is the number one co-curricular activity not only in the state, but the nation. Nate has been a part of BPA since his freshmen year and will finish his high school career as the Region 1 President which includes eight schools. Nate also participates in cross country, student council, national honor’s society and natural helpers. Nate was chosen for this position because his BPA advisor and business teacher, Lisa Melendez felt Nate possessed the leadership skills that is needed to lead in this position.

Portage-High-School-Nate-Partin_02 As for this year and BPA, Nate will travel to Indianapolis next month to compete in the two competitions that he qualified for back in December which is administrative support team and fundamental word processing. If he places in the top five in the state for both contests, he will then move onto nationals, which is being held in Orlando, Florida this year.
