Portage Robotics Qualifies for 2017 Robotics Championships

PHS-Robotics-Collage-01-26-27Portage Robotics has qualified three teams for the Indiana Robotics Championships and received invitations to the National Robotics Tournament in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The Porta-Botz! high school teams 2567 "X" and "A", and middle school team "C" recently swept the Wawasee qualifying tournament. Team "A" also received the "Excellence" and "Design" awards. Team "X" students include: Mikey Sobczak, Connor Edwards, Payton Bailey, Tyler Flatz, Josh Miess and Chris Shafer.

Team "A" students include: Tyler Lyons, Sanja Kirova, Brendan Dilbeck, Derek Rushing, Faith Zettler, Juian Favela and Kelly Schafer. Team "C" student include: Nathan Kunstek, Zander Gomolinski, Dillen Edwards, Jared Walczak and Damico Tucker. The Portage competitive robotics program is host to over 50 students, making up five high school and three middle school teams. In addition, the high school teams provide weekly mentorship for the district's elementary robotics students at Jones, Alyesworth, and Crisman schools.
