IU Northwest, Boy Scout Troop Bring Little Free Library to Gary Corner

IUN-Boy-Scout-Troop-bring-Little-Free-Library-to-Gary-corner-02A bright red windowed box adorned with the IU trident, an official Little Free Library, now stands on the corner of 35th Avenue and Washington Street across from the Indiana University Northwest Library thanks to Boy Scout Troop #30 of Gary.

The boys built the library in a collaboration with the University’s Library and the Office of University Advancement and External Affairs (UAEA). The box was erected and filled with books on Friday, April 22 to the applause of IU Northwest officials and members of Boy Scout Troop #30.

The campus’s library, as well as the new Little Free Library, provide members of the community with access to books, as well as resources that open their minds to the world and opportunities outside their neighborhoods.
