Aylesworth Elementary

5th and 1st Graders Work Together
This week at Aylesworth, Mrs. Niebel's fifth grade students had an awesome time working with Mrs. Beach's first graders. The buddies created an imaginative Leaf Man tale!

Jones Elementary

4th Grade Scientific Method
At Jones Elementary, the 4th grade classes of Mrs. Rumler, Mrs. Gill and Mrs. Collins have been working on the scientific method. Students have been involved in several experiments in preparation for the Annual Science Fair.

Grit Pays Off for 5th Graders
Fifth graders Tessa Doane, Christian Rosales, and Sydney Gardner have the privilege and responsibility of leading the school in the Pledge of Allegiance, the new Jones Pledge, and the daily announcements.

Another example of a responsibility that requires grit is Flag Duty. Kaden Laskowski is one of Jones' 5th graders that have been awarded the task of raising and lowering the U.S. Flag daily and folding it for safe keeping. This is a privilege he takes quite seriously.

Great job 5th grade! Thank you being a good example to the younger students of Jones Elementary.

Kyle Elementary

Kindergarteners Visit County Line Orchard
Kdg students from Mrs. Burgess's class were engaged in learning all about the apple orchard on a recent trip to County Line Orchard.

Myers Elementary

And they’re off!
4th and 5th grade students from across Portage Township Schools gathered at Woodland Park on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 30 to participate in the annual Cross Country Meet. The students completed a 1K through the trails at Woodland Park led by middle school and high school cross country runners. Myers Elementary was represented by 30 students who worked hard, ran fast, and did their best. A special congratulations to Bella Zurek who finished in the Top 10 for 5th grade girls!

Saylor Elementary

5th Grade Scientists
Saylor's 5th grade Scientists in Mr. Woolever and Ms. Meiss' class have been learning about the states of matter and how they can interact with each other. They did an experiment to demonstrate what happens when you combine a liquid and a solid to create a gas. They put vinegar in a 2-liter bottle and put the baking soda into the balloon. When the baking soda was dumped into the bottle the reaction creates a gas which has no color. The balloon helped them see that the gas is there as a result of the chemical reaction.
