Portage High School Continues the Empty Bowl Project in 2015

PHS-Empty-Bowl-Collage-2015This year the Portage High School art students, art club, and elementary art students are continuing the Empty Bowl Project. This is the fourth year the students have made ceramic bowls to donate. Empty Bowls is a national program to somehow donate money to the hungry; which refers to the title of an empty bowl. For the Portage Art club the students make & glaze ceramic bowls and the money directly benefits the Portage Food Pantry.

To make this a special luncheon event the homemade soups are prepared by the ladies of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and St Peter Lutheran church. Texas Roadhouse, Jimmy Johns, & Subway all generously donated bread & rolls, Starbucks donated coffee. A very special thanks to JROTC for helping move furniture, boxes of bowls, served soup, and helped with clean up. This year’s donation will be $3000 to the Portage Food Pantry.
