PHS-PE-Collage-01-22-15This week begins the new semester for students at PHS. Teachers and students alike are eager to meet, get to know each other, and learn together. One of the first units studied in Health is learning to balance your "health triangle". The triangle is made up of your physical, social, and emotional health and all three sides need to balance in order to achieve optimal health. When your health triangle is balanced you have a higher degree of wellness.

Having a high level of physical health means you have enough energy to perform daily activities, deal with everyday stresses, and avoid injury. Students engage in activities to increase their mental/emotional health by teaching them how to meet the demands of daily life and cope with problems that can occur in life. Social health, or getting along with others, is just as important as having a fit mind and body. A social network might include family members, friends, teachers or other members of the community.

Students from PHS unite to develop their social skills. These Super Fans attend home and away sporting events. Their support not only encourages their classmates who are competing, but also helps them to grow socially and emotionally.
