Portage High School Health Teachers Obtain CPR/AED Licenses

PHSCrestThe Portage High School health teachers went back to school this summer to obtain their CPR/AED Professional Rescuer Instructor license. Rick Snodgrass, Terry Chestovich, and Sandy Corso spent three days in July attending classes at Valparaiso University. Due to a new state law, all schools in Indiana have to teach a course on CPR. Teachers do not have to be certified to teach the unit, but new Portage High School Principal Jen Sass asked the health teachers if they would spend part of their vacation time to get their certificate/license to allow them to enhance the student’s experience. All three teachers eagerly agree to do this. Students now will not only be able to learn about CPR, but also qualify to get their CPR certificate. This will be a great opportunity for all students at Portage High School.
