Purdue University North Central will be the site of a presentation by HealthLink to explain the Affordable Care Act on Jan. 15 at noon in the Library-Student-Faculty Building Assembly Hall, Room 02. The event is open to the public and is an opportunity for individuals to learn about the Affordable Care Act and how it affects them and their loved ones.
Certified application counselors will be on hand to help people enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace and to help them find out if they qualify for subsidies that offset the cost of insurance coverage.
Individuals and families interested in enrolling in the Health Insurance Marketplace should bring:
- Social Security Numbers or document numbers for legal immigrants.
- Employer, tax and income information for every member of the household who needs coverage, i.e. pay stubs, W-2 forms.
- Policy numbers for any current health insurance plans covering household member (if applicable).
- A completed Employer Coverage Form is available at https://www.healthcare.gov/downloads/ECT_Application_508_130615.pdf for every job-based plan an individual or household member is eligible for, even if they are not enrolled.

HealthLinc began as Hilltop Community Health Center, part of the Hilltop Neighborhood House in Valparaiso. Hilltop Neighborhood House was created to serve poor and unemployed Porter County residents and to help meet the need for affordable, high quality housing, food, child care, health care and other services.
