Thank You Michael Berta for All You Have Done

In hockey if you score three goals in a game – it is called a hat trick. Under the leadership of retiring Superintendent Michael Berta, a hat trick that has been achieved that at one time was not considered possible.

The three goals I am referring to are; every child achieving at the highest level they are capable of; every child learning and then being accountable to follow soft skills in their daily lives of attendance, respect, appearance, grooming, listening skills, communication skills and honesty.

The third goal is preparing every student for life after Portage Schools including college military, work place, vocational interests, community involvement and of course, turning out to be a good human being in matters with others. Michal Berta has shared with our chamber members many times that “we are going to the top”. Achieving the hat trick mentioned above, Mr. Berta has convinced the entire school corporation that is possible.

The second hat trick of success is the three individuals who have led this corporation to a great level of achievement. That you to Superintendent Mr. Michael Berta, Assistant Superintendent Dr. E. Ric Frataccia in charge of curriculum and student learning and achievement and Mr. Tom Taylor, Assistant Superintendent of adult and student policy. Thank you to all three of you for a job well done. Congratulations are in order for the new leadership team of Superintendent Dr. E. Ric Frataccia, Assistant Superintendent for secondary student learning and operations, Tom Taylor and Assistant Superintendent for elementary student learning and operations, Mary Tracy.
