St. Mary Medical Center has named Hugo Garcia, of Hobart, STAR Employee of the Year May 12 at the hospital’s 44th Annual Service Awards dinner. Nearly 250 employees and guests came together to celebrate the employee of the year and other staff who have been recognized for their years of service to the hospital.
“We are thankful for our employees who diligently serve our hospital and the community,” said CEO Janice Ryba. “Each employee has made unique and lasting contributions to the success of St. Mary Medical Center and to the treatment and healing of our patients. Their commitment to our patients and the community is truly extraordinary.”
St. Mary Medical Center’s STAR Employee of the Year is selected from the 12-2016 STAR Employees of the Month as determined through votes from their peers. Garcia, part of the Hospitality and Nutrition team, was recognized for his compassion to patients, visitors and fellow staff members. He was described as frequently exceeding expectations and a true model of the values of St. Mary Medical Center.
