Benjamin Felton Joins NIPSCO as Vice President of Power Delivery

BenFeltonNorthern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) today announced that Benjamin Felton has joined the company as vice president of power delivery.

Felton, who will be based at the Merrillville headquarters, will lead NIPSCO’s electric operations team and be responsible for the system-wide delivery of electric service – including system control, field operations, vegetation management and construction.

“With a solid focus on better serving customers, Ben brings key electric field operations and management experience,” said Mike Hooper, NIPSCO’s senior vice president of electric operations. “He has a proven track record of improving safety and reliability performance and we are pleased to welcome him to NIPSCO.”

Previously, Felton served as the executive director of electric system operations and maintenance for Consumers Energy in Michigan. In his nearly 25 years of electric utility experience, he has served in increasing roles of responsibility from electric field leadership to managing electric substation operations and maintenance to directing electric lines distribution and operations. Felton’s areas of experience and leadership include safety, electric operations, construction management and capital planning and execution.

Felton earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Phoenix (Phoenix, Ariz.) and a master’s degree in business administration from the Gainey School of Business at Spring Arbor University (Spring Arbor, Mich.). He has also earned a number of executive leadership development certificates from the CE Leadership Academy at Michigan State University (Henry Center) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Other professional affiliations, community service and recognition includes; Food Bank of South Central Michigan, board member; CMS Energy Foundation, board member; American Association for Blacks in Energy, associate member; Consumer Energy Minority Advisory Council’s 2015 Diversity Prism Award recipient; and 2013 Midwest Energy Association’s Energetic Women Maverick Award recipient.
