With every January, new faces are seen at our Board of Director’s Meetings. 2013 will be no exception to the rule. Four new individuals will be sworn in at the January meeting. The Park Superintendent, Jenny Osburn joins our board and brings with her knowledge of the parks and opportunities for the relationship between the Park Department and the chamber to grow and become even strong.
The Executive Director of PEDCO, Jim Fitzer, joins the chamber board in January offering more ties between the chamber and departments within the city. Jim is no stranger to the chamber, having served on the board while employed by NIPSCO. The fact that the chamber and PEDCO work out of the same building has become another positive for both organizations.
Sandy Czekaj is new to our chamber family but Purdue North Central (where she is vice-chancellor) has become a very important member, playing a key role in different chamber events. Having Sandy join our board offers excellent opportunities of communication between the university, the city, our school system, and the chamber.
The fourth new member is no stranger to our chamber. Terry Hardin is a key member of Music in the Park Series, member of our Awards Committee, member of the Portage Education Foundation Spring Event Committee and a regular at all of our chamber events. As a pervious business owner, Terry was a major supporter to our events and as a citizen member continues to help support our chamber in every entity.
The Portage Chamber of Commerce is excited about the arrival of 2013 and grateful that these four leaders have accepted their positions on the chamber board with excitement.
