From My Desk to Yours: Spring is in the Air

The entire winter season has had everyone talking about the weather. February was certainly no different where in a given week, it found me outside splitting wood, raking leaves off of plants starting to come up, or shoveling snow. March has now arrived and hopefully a great spring is right around the corner.

The chamber has many activities planned for our membership which we think will also make for a great spring. Jonathan Nalli came for our March luncheon speaker to talk about our new Porter County Hospital’s grand opening kicked off our spring season along with some exciting ribbon cuttings.

April will be highlighted by our annual Portage Community Business Night on April 19th. Our April luncheon will take place that same day where we will honor Administrative Assistants throughout our business community – live entertainment, a gift for all in attendance, and door prizes will highlight the luncheon. April will wrap up with the annual Portage Education Foundation Wine & Beer Tasting Silent Auction Event on April 26th which is co-sponsored by our chamber.

The tri-chamber luncheon sponsored by the Porter County Community Foundation will highlight May with this event taking place May 17th.

I wanted to thank all of our members who will be supporting these events in many ways. A special thank you to the volunteers who give of their time to make all of our chamber events not only happen but also at the high quality that they possess.

As our renewals for 2012 continue to come in along with having had six new businesses join our chamber in the first two months of this year, I am confident 2012 will be a very successful and rewarding year for our businesses and our chamber. In closing, as the days are getting longer and the weather warmer, I hope you take the time to enjoy these changes by getting outside and enjoying fresh air for a change.

As always—remember to “enjoy today – it is the one that has been given to you”.
