Portage Economic Development Corporation (PEDCO) has announced the hiring of Bert Cook as their new Executive Director. Bert started in his new role in early February.
Cook was born and raised in Portage and attended Portage High School. He graduated from Purdue University North Central with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He has continued his education with coursework in Economic Development at Ball State University and Purdue University North Central. For the last 5 years Bert has worked for the Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation as the Project Manager. In early 2010, he was promoted to Retention and Expansion Coordinator for the La Porte County Economic Development Alliance.
Diane Thalmann, President of the Board of Directors, said, “The PEDCO Board of Directors has expressed a desire for the organization to become a more active part in the development of the Portage Business Community. As such, we are excited to bring back to Portage an individual with economic development experience, local connections, and enthusiasm about this community.” In conjunction with the change in personnel, PEDCO has moved its offices to 2642 Eleanor Street into the building that also houses the Portage Chamber of Commerce.
