Home Builders Association of Northwest Indiana Celebrates Their 40th Year With Free Admission to Their Expo

Home Builders Association of Northwest Indiana kicked off their Annual Home Improvement Show on Friday and will continue throughout the weekend. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the expo. To celebrate this milestone, this year is free to the public.

The Home Improvement show assists local businesses to connect with possible clients, teaches customers about new technology in home improvement industry, and allows people to ask questions directly to the people who are there to help them out.

Vicky Gadd, NWI Home Builders Association Executive Partner, was eager for the public to hear what these local businesses have to offer.

“It’s a good place to start if you’re going to start a project on your house because you have so many different contractors under one roof. You can easily compare prices here, too. This event lets you get the know the person and get a feel for their personalities. If you’re going to invite somebody into your home, you want to meet them first,” said Gadd.

The trade show offers a wide range of services, from deck construction, garage door system manufacturers, hot tubs installers, window installers, and much more.

Frank Hendricks, Overhead Door's Northwest Indiana’s Outside Sales Representative, sees the benefits of the Home Builders Association Annual Show and makes sure he represents his business.

“We’ve being doing the trade show for ten years, so we’ve seen it grow. It’s become a really good tool. We get a lot of traffic coming through. Each year it seems like there’s more and more. We’re expecting a great turnout this year,” Hendricks continued, “Anytime you get a face to face opportunity to show the customer the value of your service, it's much better than some text they can just read off your site internet.”

Greg Rentschler, President of Timberseal, who was just in one booth over agreed with Hendricks.

“These shows are great. Saturday and Sunday are really busy so it works well to get our name out. The homebuilders offer a lot to us, we’ve been a member for a long time, and they bring us great crowds throughout his event,” he said.

The event offered a service for any housing project, from construction to clean up. It was a one stop shop for all home owner's needs.

“There's really something here for everyone,” said Kathy Keene, Event and Member Coordinator of  NWI Home Builders Association.

Other vendors rely on events like this to help spread the word about their business and services.

Erica Sistack, with Horses Landscaping, commented, “We’re really getting to know people here because we work through word of mouth. We don’t advertise, so this great for us! We’re antsy to get started this year because of the warm weather.”

Visitors to the expo are encouraged to participate in Booth Bingo. At the entrance, visitors can pick up a bingo card and talk booth to booth with vendors for a chance to win a prize  This year's prize is a $50 gift card.

Another event to look forward to is the Lego building contest, which will take place on Saturday, March 11th. At 10 a.m.. Registration is open for 5-8-year-olds.  The next age bracket, 9-12-year-olds,  will compete at 1 p.m. Participation is free. Prizes include Lego kits.
