Rittenhouse Senior Living of Portage Holds Their Annual Senior Prom For 2017

Rittenhouse Senior Living of Portage hosted their Annual Prom for Seniors on Valentine's Day. The seniors enjoyed music, hors d'oeuvres, and dancing!

The day started with activities where the residents could have their nails painted, or get their makeup done by Mary Kay representatives. They could even get their hair curled. Everyone on the staff works together to make this event as fun as possible for every resident.

The hall was decorated with Valentine's Day Hearts and every resident gets to enjoy punch, or a chocolate mousse desert. They have the opportunity to dance to fun, silly songs everyone knows, like the Chicken Dance, or watch the professional dancers do a line dance. Some of the music might remind the residents of their own high school dances. Some of it just gets them moving and smiling.

“We start the morning with getting nails done. The aids get them dressed up, and it’s a full day of events. We always have five-star DJ’s and the Bonner senior dancers. They get the residents up and dancing. The seniors love it. It’s great to listen to how all of the seniors react,” said Judi Kukelka, Senior Life Style Councelor.

Everyone dances along to the "YMCA." Some make an attempt at the Cupid Shuffle. Everyone has a great time.

Mary-Lou Allard and Bette Ward are two of the ladies at Rittenhouse who really loved the prom.

“I’ve been looking forward to this! It’s my first prom, and I love it. It’s lots of fun, said Mary-Lou

It’s really a special event for everyone.

“I always look forward to this. All of the women here love to dance. Everyone has so much fun. My favorite is the line dancing,” Bette.

Rittenhouse even crowns a king and queen, who got their own dance all to themselves. This year Catherine Bradshaw and Jack Wobbler were crowned.
