With great restaurants, gaming, entertainment, and other exceptional offerings, the Blue Chip has become a destination that brings guests from near and far through its doors.

The Blue Chip Tower opened in 1999. It was built in a different time with the purpose of being a regular hotel, unlike its sister hotel tower, Spa Blu Tower, which was opened in 2009 and proves to be many steps above the average hotel.

“The goal was to narrow the experience between Spa Blu and Blue Chip Towers,” Lief Erickson, Vice President and General Manager of Blue Chip Casino, Hotel and Spa said. “Spa Blu was designed by a famous Chicago architect and provides a luxurious experience for our guests as does the rest of the nongaming amenities on the property, and we want the Blue Chip Tower to mirror that.”

The remodeling project began in September 2015. All 168 rooms as well as the 16 suites were redone, one floor at a time. To minimize the effect on all that went on around, above, and below each floor as it was renovated, the floors above and below were used as buffers to help cancel out the noise and other interruptions. Each floor’s renovation took one week to complete. The Clark Corporation, a union general contractor out of Peoria, IL, completed the project.

We’ve received nothing but positive feedback from our guests.”

Not only were the rooms renovated, work was done in the hotel corridors, the elevators, and other public areas. A modern design was used throughout the hotel using warm colors and rich wood textures. Tandem Design, a Las Vegas-based interior design company, created the look. Tandem is another company that the Blue Chip has worked with.

Other Boyd Gaming (the parent company of the Blue Chip) properties are undergoing updates. Several locations in Las Vegas are getting renovated as a nationwide project to stay ahead of the ever-changing gaming industry.

“Our Company has really focused this year on expanding and enhancing our non-gaming amenities across the country,” Erickson said. “The gaming industry is evolving, and we are seeing a greater portion of our business coming from hotel rooms, restaurants and other non-gaming amenities. There is clearly growing interest in these amenities, and our investments will help us draw more customers to Blue Chip – and to this region – than ever before.”
