“We’re really excited to be adding this location here in Chesterton,” said NorthShore C.O.O. Rhonda Mendoza. “The mission here at NorthShore is to ensure that each individual has a medical home and access to the highest quality healthcare regardless of their age, race, gender, or social or economic standing. The services that we offer is basically a one-stop-shop at most of our locations. Here at the Chesterton site we’ll offer OB/GYN, Pediatrics and Family Practice.”

Through their dedication to providing continuous, accessible healthcare NorthShore Health Centers seeks to make their services affordable and available to every family regardless of their ability to pay. They are a non-profit Federally Qualified Community Health Center that emphasizes education and illness prevention en route to helping patients improve their lives and achieve their full potential.

“We take anybody and everybody, insured or uninsured,” Mendoza continued. “This facility is here to serve everyone here in Chesterton. I’m personally glad to say I’m from Chesterton, I went to school here and my children did as well. I’m very loyal to the town and excited that the mission that I know and love very strongly is now coming to a community that I’m proud to still be a member of. We want to thank Chesterton for letting us be a part of and serve their community.”

NorthShore Board President Scott Cherry spoke about NorthShore and the expansion into the community. “When you’re expanding like we are and doing a project like this it gets to be pretty difficult. It can be a burden on the staff and we need to recognize all the departments and the hard work that everyone has put forward.”

“We’re here to acknowledge the vision of NorthShore and the actions behind that vision,” said Mark Lopez, Chief of Staff to Representative Pete Visclosky. “The staff members who have chosen a career to help their fellow citizens do so often unthanked and unrecognized. The compassion they show their patients and the quality care they give is part of the reason we are now celebrating the opening of the ninth health center. No matter if you’re insured, uninsured or underinsured you will be given world class, quality healthcare that is second to none.”

“Thank you for making the Duneland community your new home,” said Duneland Chamber of Commerce President, Maura Durham “They do great work for the community and people who need it the most. We appreciate their investment and we look forward to continuing to partner with NorthShore and all they do.”

NorthShore Health Centers offering medical and dental services can be found in Chesterton, Portage, Hammond, Merrillville and Lake Station. NorthShore also has three school-based centers in Lake Station, Merrillville and Portage.

Beautiful day for the ribbon cutting of the new Chesterton facility for NorthShore Health Centers. Expanding to serve the health care needs for more of Northwest Indiana.
