Indiana Beverage: Giving Northwest Indiana Students Opportunities to Work and Succeed

Indiana-Beverage-2Summer’s here, and with that, there’s a lot of students returning to Northwest Indiana looking for a job while they’re home. Yet, it seems like more and more businesses nowadays are turning their heads to temporary employment and opting for more long-term hires.

But at Indiana Beverage, whose business booms during the warmer months when the sun is shining, the grills are firing, and there’s a festival or celebration seemingly around every corner, they’re always looking for hard working young men and women during the spring and summer seasons.

“We’re busy during holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas,” General Manager George Douglas, said. “But our biggest time of the year is during summer with holidays like Memorial Day and July 4th. So we need students who are on summer break to help us handle the volume during this time.”

“These opportunities can definitely turn into careers,” Douglas added. “We have a lot of people here that got their start during the summer, and were really into what we do and our work culture here and now are full-time employees with us.”

The culture Douglas is referring to is a company that wants to see these students succeed in the workplace and the classroom, and one that is willing to work with them to ensure that goal becomes a reality. During the school year, many of the students stick around to help out Indiana Beverage in the night warehouse, and Indiana Beverage does everything it can to make sure they have a good job but still have time to do everything they can to succeed in school.

“When the students start in our night warehouse we ask them to bring us their school schedules,” Douglas said. “That way we can create a work schedule that works around it and doesn’t overwork them. Then, during the next semester, we ask them to bring their new schedule in and repeat the process.”

“We’re able to provide that type of flexibility here,” Douglas added.

So if you or someone you know is looking for a fun, flexible, and good job in Northwest Indiana this summer, then be sure to take a look at the openings Indiana Beverage has here.
