Duneland Chamber of Commerce Members Get A Taste of Chesterton at Progressive Dinner

The Duneland Chamber of Commerce and its members hit the town Thursday evening to enjoy food, drinks, and great live entertainment at four different restaurants around Chesterton. The Progressive Dinner, which the Duneland Chamber of Commerce has been putting on for the last several years, brought together around 70 Chamber members and guests who had a blast making their way from one stop to the next aboard limousines and party buses.

Dinner goers began their journey at Applebee’s where they were treated to drinks and their first course before being split up into three groups, which then boarded the limos and buses to head to their first restaurant stop of the evening. The first location featured an appetizer, the second had soup or salad, and the third will serve an entree. El Salto, Poblano’s, and Craft House were the three restaurants featured in this, the first of two, progressive dinners the chamber will host in 2015.

“This is such a fun event,” said Beth Luncsford, who works for the Duneland Chamber. “When people heard about it on social media or through our press release they were really excited. The event filled up very quickly and we even had to cut off the sign-ups because of all the interest it had generated. It’s not only a networking event for business professionals who come but also a night filled with great food and great company with their friends and family.”

When members and guests arrived at Applebee’s they were given a mock 'Passport' which they carried with them to each restaurant. Chamber coordinators would place a stamp in the passport for every dollar a member had tipped the service staff at each of the three locations. The person with the most stamps would receive a gift from the Chamber at the end of the night.

“People feel at ease with our Chamber,” said Maura Durham, President of the Duneland Chamber of Commerce. “They do business with people they like and this is a good way to bring our members together in a relaxed setting where they can build relationships with one another. We have such a wonderful business community here and we hope these events can promote that even further. It’s also a great way to showcase and get more people into these great local restaurants that might be new, or well established, in our area.”

“These events are just so much fun,” said Ann from Edible Arrangements, a member of the Duneland Chamber. “It’s great to get to try different restaurants that we haven’t been to before and at the same time we get to support local Chamber of Commerce businesses, which we love doing.”

At the end of an enjoyable evening, Chamber members were served dessert after they returned to Applebee’s where the festivities had begun. It was here that the winner with the most stamps in his or her ‘Passport’ was announced.
