A variety of free health screenings and wellness assessments will be offered at Porter Regional Hospital's Spring Wellness Fair. The event will be held 8 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, April 11, in the hospital's lobby, located at 85 East US Hwy 6 in Valparaiso. Porter physicians and staff will be available to answer questions and provide information on arthritis, joint replacement, atrial fibrillation, chest pain, varicose veins and foot health. Guests will also be able to talk to a Porter pharmacist about their medications and potential food and drug interactions.

Miller Bakery Café will donate 10% of all proceeds to help send fallen Gary Police Offer's children to Washington D.C. Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 61 has established a fund to send slain Patrolman Jeff Westerfield's five children to the National Peace Officer's Memorial Service the week of May 10 in Washington, D.C. Join us to help send Allie, Rachel, Cheyenne, Katerina and Brady Westerfield to Washington D.C. to honor their father and others who lost their lives in the line of service.

Businesses which fail to register will be called and tactfully reminded. The fine for not registering is $100. All new businesses or those which did not submit a form last year, must complete the whole of the form this year. New Orientation Session for Class Volunteers
Tuesday, April 7 at 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

We provide therapeutic horseback riding lessons for children and adults with disabilities, serving over 500 riders between two facilities in northwest Indiana. Reins is looking for volunteers to help assist our riders during riding lessons. Pre-registration is preferred and volunteers must be at least 13 years old. No previous horse experience is required. Come and have some fun while helping those who need us most! Summer Camp Open House

This free event offers families an opportunity to tour our national lakeshore campus, meet staff and ask questions about the upcoming summer camp season. Overnight and day camp sessions are available for ages 6 to 17. Activities include night hikes, beach outings, cookouts, camp crafts, fishing, kayaking and photography. Activities vary by session. Camps are supervised by first-aid and CPR certified staff. Campers stay in modern, climate-controlled cabins with indoor bathroom facilities. This variety show features movie-inspired performances, dinner and silent auction. Proceeds go to program enhancements at Ivy Tech-Northwest campuses. Public tickets are now on sale to "Destination Duneland: Spring Progressive Dinner," the sixth dinner tour to be hosted by the Duneland Chamber of Commerce. After touring the first three restaurants in smaller groups, all guests will be transported to Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar for the final dessert course. The four-day festival is sure to appeal to general nature enthusiasts, beginning birdwatchers, advanced birders, and plant and animal lovers. Registration has begun and runs through April.
