The third annual event at Thomas Centennial Park will highlight live street art, music, delicious food and interactive kid's activities. Hooked on Art will feature nearly two dozen live street artists creating unique works of art throughout the course of a day. Live music will be performed by local artists. Chicago Chalk Champ Shaun Hays will create a 25x15 interactive and three-dimensional chalk art piece. The "Church Ladies Food Tent" will feature three local Porter County churches serving unique home-made meals and desserts.

Curves Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Curves is offering 10 workouts for $10 donation to Breast Cancer Research or Care October 1-31st. Non-members can purchase a punch card for $10 to be used for 10 workouts, with the ENTIRE amount going toward breast cancer research. Members can purchase a card & dedicate their workouts in honor of someone they know who has battled breast cancer. M.O.M.s Method
Stretch Workshop

In addition to two new M.O.M.s Method classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:45, owner Orlee Glazer will be holding a workshop to make M.O.M.s Method more accessible to the community and to educate local women about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. This Wednesday, October 1st, Glazer will be leading a workshop at the M.O.M.s Method studio about the benefits of stretching. The cost is just $20 for the 75 minute workshop, and there will be an 11:00 am and a 7:00 pm session. Participants will be lead through a series of moves to elongate muscles and relieve stress from everyday life as well as learning some simple take home moves to use everyday. The Field Station is hosting it's 9th Annual Golf Outing. We are a non-profit preschool located within the National Park in Porter. The Field Station is committed to teaching young children about the natural world around them and providing the opportunity to experience nature like so many of us did when we were kids. We are currently seeking golfers at this time. Without our community's generous support, we would not be able to continue offering our unique preschool programs. For 13 consecutive years, the Duneland community has hosted a prayer breakfast patterned after the National Prayer Breakfast gatherings in Washington, DC. This year's speaker is Gary Varvel, syndicated cartoonist at the Indianapolis Star. Tickets are available at Anton Insurance, Duneland Chamber of Commerce, Duneland Family YMCA, The Chesterton Tribune and Duneland Resale in Chesterton, and at Anton Insurance in Valparaiso. George Kassal will host the Chesterton version of the Worldwide Photo Walk on Saturday, October 11. Participants will meet at the Chesterton Art Center at 10:00 and then wander through downtown Chesterton taking pictures. PBS Companies recently celebrated the groundbreaking of the Sparta Sports Dome located at the Crown Point Sports Complex. We are honored to design and construct the new Dome for CS Sports Group. The Sparta Dome is an indoor sports facility with over 100,000 SF of playing surface. The Dome will be available for league play (youth and adult) as well as individual rentals and will also host tournaments, camps and personal training programs. With it's regional and year round appeal, the new sports dome will assist the City of Crown Point in becoming a destination location for hosting tournaments of athletes from Indiana and surrounding states.
