Lake County Fair Celebrates their 164th Year

rot1The Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point has already begun the transformation for the 164th Annual Lake County Fair. The Fair begins August 5 and continues to August 14. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. daily, with free admission Monday through Thursday before 3:00 p.m. Buildings open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m. except for the Industrial Building, which opens at noon on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and both Fridays.

Gate admission is $5 for adults; children ages 9 to 12 are $2; children age 8 and under are free. Parking on the Fairgrounds is $5. Free parking and shuttles are available at the Crown Point High School; shuttles begin at noon.

Fairgoers can enjoy live entertainment on the Heritage Stage, horse and animal shows in the arena and barns, daily contests, carnival rides, hundreds of food options and Grandstand events like a Monster Truck Show and the Demolition Derby.

The Mega Ride Pass will get visitors unlimited carnival rides every day. Full-day wristbands can also be purchased for $25, except Aug 14.

New to the Fair this year is the Jungle Island Petting Zoo and Bird Encounter. A full schedule of events can be found online at www.lake-county-fair.com. The Lake County Fairgrounds are located at 889 South Court Street in Crown Point, Ind.
